VitaminsCholine Chloride - Generally classified as a B-complex vitamin, choline influences the metabolism of carotene and vitamin A in animals. It is an essential component for ensuring the proper functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin C - It is integral to the building and maintenance of collagen, a protein or "glue" that holds the body's cells in place. It is indispensable to bones and teeth (for much the same reason), to blood vessels, and to the healing of wounds. It is a powerful antioxidant, too, helping the body rid itself of carcinogenic by-products of metabolism called free radicals. Niacin - Also known as: Vitamin B3; Nicotinic Acid Vitamin B5 - This acid enables the body to create usable energy from carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Vitamin E - This powerful vitamin and antioxidant, circulates in the blood and detoxifies free radicals (destructive by-products of metabolism), prevents damage to cell membranes, and thereby reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer. Biotin - Biotin is important primarily because of its role in maintaining healthy skin and hair, but it is also necessary for growth, digestion, and muscle function. Vitamin K - Known as the blood-clotting vitamin, K helps the body
synthesize at least four of the proteins integral to clot formation. But vitamin K also cooperates with vitamins A and D in helping to build bone protein. Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, and has been proven to be essential to normal growth, muscle development, and hair coat. Vitamin B6 - Necessary for the metabolism of protein, this vitamin also converts glycogen (a complex carbohydrate) into glucose (a sugar), which can be utilized by muscles. The body uses pyridoxine to build red blood cells and maintain nerve tissue. Beta Carotene - The pigment, beta-carotene, that colors carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and other yellow and orange vegetables, is a precursor for vitamin A (retinol), an essential component for vision. Vitamin A - Vitamin A or retinol is needed for proper vision (it can prevent and sometimes cure night blindness) and for healthy skin and mucous membranes lining the body's inner cavities. In addition, vitamin A helps the body fight infection. Vitamin B1 - Thiamine is required for the normal function of muscles and nerves because it converts glucose to energy. Vitamin B12 _ This vitamin, working in concert with folacin (a B vitamin also known as folic acid), is used in the production of red blood cells. It also helps build and maintain protective nerve sheaths. Vitamin D - It facilitates the absorption of calcium in the body, regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the body and thus helps build strong bones and teeth. MINERALSCalcium Carbonate - Calcium is the mineral in the body that makes up its bones and keeps them strong. Ninety-nine percent of the calcium in the body is stored in bones and teeth. The remaining 1% is in blood and soft tissues and is essential for life and health. Dicalcuim Phosphate - Calcium and phosphorous work together in the body to maintain the growth and structure of the skeletal system. Ferrous Sulfate - As its primary function, iron combines with Copper (Cu) and protein to form hemoglobin, the molecule in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Iron also is necessary for certain enzymes in the body to function normally. Zinc Oxide - Zinc Oxide is necessary for a healthy immune system. It is further needed for cell division, and is needed by the tissue of the hair, nails and skin to be in top form. Zinc is further used in the growth and maintenance of muscles. Copper Sulfate - Copper is required in the formation of hemoglobin, red blood cells as well as bones, while it helps with the formation of elastin as well as collagen - making it necessary for wound healing. Manganous Oxide - Manganous Oxide is related to manganese, which is essential for the proper use of protein and carbohydrate by the body, reproduction, and the action of many enzymes in the body responsible for the production of energy and making fatty acids. Sodium Selenite - This nutrient is an important part of antioxidant enzymes that protect cells against the effects of free radicals that are produced during normal oxygen metabolism. Selenium is also essential for normal functioning of the immune system and thyroid gland. Calcium Iodate - Iodine is necessary for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland and the production of thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormones regulate the rate of metabolism in the body and play an important role in normal growth. |
