  1. Grrreat kitty fountain -- and more!! 5 Star Review

Posted by on May 1st 2015

When my vet suggested a "falling water" fountain to encourage our one y.o. male cat to increase his liquid intake, I was skeptical. I had heard that these contraptions were messy, hard to keep clean and could lead to water-borne illnesses in cats. We received the Pagoda Fountain as a holiday gift and have now used it for four months.

I am now totally a convert. Not only is the unit attractive and easy to clean, BOTH of our cats are drawn to it like ... well, fish to water. We keep the fountain in our bedroom (I've placed it in a melamine tray to protect the hardwood floors from any spills) and my husband finds the ambient noise of falling water helps him to sleep -- a bonus we didn't expect.

I fill the fountain with a one-gallon spring-water bottle (refilled from our tap) and clean the unit after each gallon is consumed -- about one week. The surfaces do feel a little slippery toward the end and a little scale forms on the vertical surface of the spillway. This is easily removed with a little white vinegar on a sponge. I feel confident that with both of the filters (pre- and charcoal) the water is healthy for our felines. About the only downside I can think of is that the litter box gets used more often -- a price I'm willing to pay for better health for our kitties plus a good night's sleep!

  2. Great Watering Hole for cats 5 Star Review

I have 2 kittens and 1 older cat. I was looking for a fountain that would capture all their interests. This fountain did that. It stayed fresh with the dual fountain flows. To top it off, it feels totally solid and holds lots of water and looks good doing it.
