The first transmitter died while placing the flags. Innotek was quick to replace the bad unit with a good one and so far so good. My dog, a small but stubborn Lhaso Apso, didn't really pay much attention to the beeping. Once I switched out the plastic prongs for the metal and introduced the shock he started paying attention to the beep and stayed away from the warning zone. I'm still training, but it looks like it will work well.

We wanted to expand our perimeter for our two dachshunds as we used a wireless system before. We suffered from VERY frequent battery swaps, random shocks in the house, and lots of issues during bad weather.
I did my research and found that the SD-2000 was the standard by which all fences are judged. I have to say that the price was shockingly good. A system, an extra collar, and lots of extra wire had me ready to fence at < $200 - simply a bargain for a two-dog system.
My only advice would be to buy pre-twisted wire if you have a "no" zone (a non correction feeder line to your real perimeter). You can get quality feeder lines here or just about any place that sells fence systems.
The result? Zero issues - happy dogs with a HUGE area to run and play! We are a solid month in and both receivers still show no change to battery voltage. The collars appear quite rugged and I expect long life on my dachshunds even though they are only 4" off the ground.
Batteries are inexpensive and collars are priced so well I may buy a an extra to have on-hand in case my dogs do break one. I never considered that with our more expensive wireless system.
Bottom line: bargain priced system that reliably contains your dogs for years to come. If cost is an issue, choose the SD-2000 and don't look back. If money is no object, one of the higher priced PetSafe models may be more appropriate. If I were to do this whole process over again, I would not have changed a athing - very pleased with the Innotek system.
BTW - I had a receiver that did not want to turn on unless the battery was "just right". A phone call to Radiofence.com had a replacement collar at my door in 2 days! Superb customer service - and I can highly recommend them to all my friends.

I searched for an invisible fence for months before buying this one, and I am so glad I did my research first because I am very satisfied with it. It was much less expensive than other brands, and so far, it has worked perfectly for our very stubborn dog! We were having some major problems with our doberman climbing over our chain link fence, and this fence has stopped the problem completely. We will be moving soon and didn't want to bury the wire, so my husband ran the wire around the outside of the chain link fence so that the dogs couldn't get to it and chew it. It has worked perfectly from the start and we have had no issues. I can't speak for the difficulty in installing it because my husband did that, but he had the fence completely set up in less than 30 minutes. Our dog's first experience with feeling the collar's buzz made him run into his dog house, but after that, he learned VERY quickly where his boundaries were and he has had no instances of jumping over the fence ever since. It is a huge relief to know that we don't have to worry about him getting out of the yard anymore. We are able to have the control set to a very low setting, also. The product also comes with an instructional DVD that helps to explain how to introduce your dog to the fence. I would recommend this fence to anyone who is looking for an invisible fence for their dog. I am very pleased with this purchase and will be returning to this site whenever I need similar products for my dogs.

Instructions are clear. Installation was difficult with tree roots, etc. but at no fault of the product, and it's way cheaper than hiring someone to do it. Training was quick- two times - but our two standard poodles are pretty smart. Dogs stay safely in the yard. I really couldn't ask for more of this product.

I cut old garden hose lengthwise and ran the wire through it to go over the driveway in 2 places and the system seems to work just fine. I understand this will only work so long but will just splice in new wire when needed.

Enjoy having our 4 month lab outside with us and no leash or rope. Has been a very good investment so far.
