The Pet Fence Wire Break Locator makes finding breaks quick and easy. Often times, it is not possible to tell where your wire is broken unless you have the wire break locator.
It's not uncommon that you would need to dig up all your wire to find it. The Wire Break Locator will help you troubleshoot your system if there is a wire break indication on the fence transmitter or if the receiver collar is not functioning on the containment system but works during the short loop test.
Our Pet Fence Wire Break Detector can be used for any brand of underground pet fence to find wire breaks. This new and improved system replaces RFA-50.
The wire break locator is not returnable unless it is defective. All returned wire break detectors will be tested for proper operation. We will replace defective wire locators at no charge.

I have an underground fence that covers about 4 acres so when my system detected a break I wasn't able to locate it. It has a broken a couple times before and normally I can determine where the break occurred by recalling if any digging happened anywhere. This last incident I wasn't able to find the break so I ordered the Break Finder. The instructions said that the underground wire system has to be ground which mine is and that when the break is found the tone will change to another tone. Mine didn't quite work this way. I could hear the tone but then it gradually went silent. I walked another 10 - 20 feet and never picked up a second tone. so i decided to search the area where the tone stopped and I was able to find the break. Bottom line is that it located the break kind of sort of.

The unit does seem to become very ""hot"" if plugged in for more than 15 minutes. I don't know if this is normal and have not inquired about this to find out if normal or if a problem.
Otherwise - we were able to find multiple breaks in our line.

was larger than expected, but worked very well. We live in upstate NY and have an invisible fence for our two 110-lb labs. Between the cold weather and hazards of a very active yard with lots of traffic on three of four sides of the fence, we've experienced a number of breaks. This product is much more affordable and convenient that having to call out a professional to find run-of-the-mill breaks. It won't help with most partial breaks or corrosion problems (unless corrosion has broken the loop), but we've had good success using it to locate breaks that had incapacitated our fence. You do need some basic technical know-how and a little patience to use this effectively, but its not overly complicated.

Was able to find multiple breaks in the old line and determined it was best to lay a new line. A radio with better reception would be a plus.

We were not able to definitely determine where the break in the underground pet wire was; we possibly may have had more than one or several partial breaks. My husband and I ended up laying down 1000ft. of new wire after several attempts of using the wire break detector failed to find the breaks. I would recommend Radio Fence make available to the customer a CD of the sounds the break detector makes when passing over breaks in the wire. This would prove very helpful to anyone who has not previously used the detector.

I was very skeptical about this device, but it is worth every penny. We were able to pinpoint within a couple feet of the break and fix it quickly.

We purchased the break detector and I found the bresk in the wire in about 45 min. Also found a weak spot. We have about 4 acres fenced. Last time I spent 2 days jumping wires and spliceing to find the break.

We live on 5 acres and have the invisible fence enclosing the large area immediately surrounding the house and barn area. The unit went bad during the winter and we were having a hard time finding the wire in 2 feet of snow that was covering the area. The broken wire finder worked wonderful. We found the break within an hour in one of the buried areas in the frozen ground. We have made temporary repairs until we are able to replace the section that was broken. It was interesting to note that the dogs did not even realize that the fence was not working. They never left the area where they knew the fence to be. We love the fence. Thanks to our son who had the original one and we saw how well it worked when our dogs had to stay at his house for two months while my husband was very ill.

The only downside to this product is that you have to be on your habds and kness crawling along the preimeter, so that the radio signal can be detected. For us it was a long crawl abt 3 acres under fence, but it's been there 5 yrs and this winter was the first problem. Unfortunately, for us we started at box and followed around and the break was at the end of the line , almost back at the box. Oh well, it still was found. Poor son, was frostbitten and had some sore knees but hey the dog is safe again ! LOL! Thanks for the product, as we both have your fences, and both live in the country , it will be handy to have.
