Product Description

Lightning is the #1 Cause of Damage to Underground Dog Fence Transmitters. Lightning strikes, even miles away, can create powerful surges or spikes which may damage your electronic in-ground fence.

In nearly every case, damage to the transmitter results from power surges or spikes traveling through the Boundary Wire and not the power adapter. The dog fence boundary wire in your yard acts like a giant antenna drawing in any current transmitted through the ground during a lightning strike, even if that strike is hundreds of yards away. PetSafe Pet Fence Lightning Protection is designed to stop the lightning surge before it reaches the dog fence transmitter. Our Pet Fence Lightning Protection Module can be used for any brand of underground dog fence.

Features:

  • Electrical surge protection for in-ground fence transmitters
  • Features connections for fencing loop wires
  • Protects against electrical surges and spikes
  • Plugs directly into outlet - easy installation

  2. best money spent

Posted by jimbo on Nov 2nd 2011

I use to monitor weather forcasts daily for thunder/lightning storms,so I could un-plug my transmitter to be safe from losing it,which was a hassle, but now I don't have to worry about it,thanks to my trustworthy lightning protection.

  3. Needed safety item

Saves the loss of a transmitter due to lightning.

  4. So far, so good

    Posted by B. on Oct 27th 2011

We just had a good lightening display today coupled with a two hour power outage. Fence system came right back on with the power.

  5. We Were Struck Without It - Now Buying

Posted by Bernese Mountain Lovers on Oct 24th 2011

We had lightening strike about 100 yards from our home. The surge hit the ground wire and literally blew up the control unit mounted to our family room wall. There is a big black spot where it used to be and we are still finding pieces of the unit. Thankful the kids were in the kitchen at the time of the strike. Don't install an underground fence system without this. We have learned our lesson!

  6. Dog Fence Lightening Proctection

Posted by Deb on Oct 21st 2011

This should be either added to the dog fence as part of the package or at least offered as an addon. We went thru several transmitters because of lightening before we knew about this.

  7. No lightning problems yet!

Posted by Melissa on Oct 19th 2011

I haven't had any problems with lightning yet, so I'm assuming it's doing the trick!

  8. the transmitter still works

Posted by Vin on Oct 19th 2011

We had a major lightning storm last night with multiple stikes on our property. When we went out this morning the fence was not working. The lightning arrestor looks like a charcoal briquette, and souonds like a box of cracker jack. Totally fried - but the transmitter is fine, and still works. I will be "rush ordering" a replacment lightning arrestor
