The SportDOG™ Field Trainer Shock Collar is an effective and affordable trainer with a 400 yard range featuring a 2.8 oz receiver collar ideal for any dog over 30 pounds or sporting and hunting breeds. The SD-400 is for average-to-train dogs.

The SportDOG™ Field Trainer Shock Collar is ideal for training in the yard, field, or for hunting with close-working dogs. Both the transmitter and receiver are waterproof and submersible.

The SportDOG™ Field Trainer Shock Collar can be expanded to control up to three dogs by adding SportDOG™ Brand Add-A-Dog collars. The comfortable "soft coat" transmitter finish makes this unit a pleasure to handle. This is the dog training gear the way you would design it.

The low continuous stimulation levels and gradual increases between levels are particularly useful with sensitive dogs or breeds.

You can customize your SportDOG™ Field Trainer Shock Collar to match your training preference. It comes set up in MODE-1 (an 8-level continuous + 8-level momentary stimulation one dog collar with a non-stimulation tone button), but it can easily be changed into 7 different modes with different button configurations. This allows you to customize your transmitter to your training needs.

Overview

Like all electronic remote training collars, the SportDOG™ Field Trainer Shock Collar can be used for two basic purposes: 1) Reinforce obedience commands and 2) Stop unwanted behaviors.

This trainer can be used to train one, two or three dogs simultaneously. Extra collar receivers are needed and are sold separately.

Components

Control Unit (Transmitter): This small battery-powered remote device controls the collar receiver. When you press the transmitter button, its red light flickers and a coded signal is sent to the collar, activating an electronic stimulus and/or tone. Use the eyelet to attach the transmitter to a lanyard to keep from losing it.
Training Collar: Consists of a receiver box attached to a durable polypropylene strap. The dog receives the stimulus via the collar probes. The power source for the collar receiver is a rechargeable NiMH battery.
Test Light: Allows you to make sure the system is working properly. To test, wrap one wire of the test light around each probe to form a bridge and press the transmitter button. The test lamp lights when stimulation is delivered.

Use of the SportDOG™ Trainer

Pressing the button on the handheld transmitter sends a signal to the collar receiver. Upon receipt of this signal, the collar probes deliver a continuous or momentary (whichever you choose) electrical stimulus to the dog. Continuous means the stimulation persists as long as the button is pressed, up to 8 seconds. NOTE: As a safety feature, the collar receiver automatically shuts off after 8 seconds of continuous stimulation.
