  1. Should have bought more range.

Posted by Laurie Wandell on Apr 18th 2013

I don't think the range is quite what it claims to cover and I notice if my dog is heading away from me it's hard to deliver the shock...it's like the collar isn't working...if he is sideways or facing me it works better. If I had it to do all over again I would buy one with more range/distance capability. It is easy to use though.as far as the transmitter..

  2. Could use more strength

I ordered the Stubborn Dog Yard Trainer for walking my Black Lab. We had a regular yard trainer for our much larger yellow lab, and he feels it with one touch. It did not work on the Black Lab. The Stubborn Dog Trainer has 8 settings with two intensity settings. We have it on 8 and use the larger intensity, and he just shakes his head and continues pulling on his leash. The yellow lab is 135 pounds; the black one is 85. Might need to manufacture another for VERY STUBBORN black labs. Maybe have settings that go up to 15.

  3. For Very Active "Aussie"

Seems to work well - Only been using it a week - definite deterrent for dogs wanting to chase cars.

The shock collar is working great. we have been able to train our dog to stop his bad havits in just a few days. Fast delivery, arrived sooner than we were told.

  6. All around good product

Posted by chocolate lab lover on Oct 13th 2011

"I have a lab that is extremely stubborn so I have to have the collar turned up higher than I would like to make a difference. What is really nice is once she knows she will get shocked all I have to do is use the warning button. I rarely have to shock her now, I just warn her and she behaves.
    Definately a good product"

  7. Great tool for training

Posted by Joe on Oct 13th 2011

This is a great tool for training dogs. I use it for my German Shepherd who had problems with distractions during training. With the Sport Dog Training collar, now he only needs to hear the warning beep and he is listening to my commands.

  8. Product did EXACTLY what we needed to do

Posted by Happy Customer on Oct 13th 2011

"Almost everything about this collar is great. We really needed higher settings in the beginning, if we had gotten the regular e-collar, we never would have had progress. We have a very tough and stubborn boy. In the beginning, he would calculate the risk and run after a small animal anyway, hoping we would use a low setting, even tightening the muscles in his neck when he was thinking of breaking the rules. Now we rarely need to even put it on him and when we do, it's a very low setting.

We were concerned that he would only obey when it was on him, but it really just instilled in him a habit of listening to us and we have a much different dog today than we did when we purchased this!

The only negative is that the receiver box is a little large, and even on a golden retriever, it is quite obvious. Only a problem if you care what other people think about you using an e-collar."

  9. Stubborn Dog Shock Collar

I have found the collar great for my "extra stubborn & self opinionated dog"! It's the only thing that has worked for me. I'm glad I got it

  10. Sportsdog Stubborn Dog Shock Collar

Posted by Sheilah on Oct 13th 2011

I adopted a neglected, abused 120 lb. 6 year old rottweiler from the local Rottie rescue, named Joe. He was neither leash trained nor socialized with other dogs, and was somewhat vicious towards smaller dogs. I spent months working with him without much luck. A friend that breeds mastiffs recommended a shock collar and specifically recommended the Sportsdog shock collar. I purhased the Sportsdog Stubborn Dog Yard Trainer Shock Collar. Within 3 weeks of using this collar, along with training, Joe was playing with other dogs at the local dog park. The change in him was incredible. Everyone that saw the before and after of Joe was amazed at the change. I recommend Sportdog to everyone who asks about the collar. An excellent product and Joe is a happy and healthy stable dog who enjoys being around people and other animals.
