Please Select Wire Gauge

wire-gauge-chart2.jpgThis is a 1,000 foot roll of Heavy Duty - Solid Core Pet Fence Wire and it's available in Four Thicknesses: 20 Gauge, 18 Gauge, 16 Gauge and 14 Gauge. No matter the terrain you are enclosing, we have the heavy duty wire you will need. These 1,000 foot rolls are enough wire to enclose up to 1 to acre. We recommend Heavy Duty Pet Fence wire in any areas where the wire may experience wear and tear such as rocky conditions or cold weather climates.

Electric dog fences usually come with 20-gauge (thinnest), 18-gauge, 16-gauge, or 14-gauge (thickest) wire. The 20-gauge wire with a vinyl coating is what you will find in most pre-packaged do-it-yourself fencing kits. Most professionally installed systems use the more substantial 14, 16 or 18 gauge wire. Whether you’re replacing a section of your existing fence or wiring your yard from scratch, you can easily find a relatively inexpensive and compatible wire for your project. Regardless of gauge, you should choose only a solid insulated wire rated for burial preferably polyethylene or plastic coated works best. All of our wire use these coatings for maximum performance.

This wire is compatible with all PetSafe®, SportDOG®, Innotek®, Invisible Fence® Brand, Dog Watch® PetStop®, Contain Your pet®, Dog Guard®, Perimeter® Brand, Dogtek®, Dogtra®, Guardian®,  Havahart® and all other brands of in-ground electric dog fence systems.

Factory Grade Wire

This is the wire included in all self-install kits. Regardless of gauge, this wire is of medium quality, lighter weight and keeps shipping and initial costs down. This wire will work but does not hold up to the elements as well as a professional grade wire. The vinyl wire coating is prone to cracks and over time exposes the copper leaving the wire susceptible to damage. This can cause issues that impact the functionality of your dog fence system. Since finding, digging up, and repairing wire breaks can be a tedious job at best, many people prefer to upgrade to a pro-grade wire from the start.

heavy-duty-wire.jpgHeavy Duty Grade Wire

The initial cost of heavy duty grade wire is a bit more than manufacturer grade wire. However, there are many benefits to choosing heavy duty wire for your dog fence. Heavy Duty grade dog fence wire holds up better to freezing conditions, sunlight exposure, contraction and expansion of the ground, water exposure and general wear and tear. The long term savings in time and replacement if you are planning on staying in your home for at least a year or more, makes the heavier duty wire a much better investment.

Good Value
I believe this wire is the best value available for heavy gauge dog fence wire. I rented an EZ-Trench Wire Trencher from Home Depot and was able to put down 950 feet in just over and hour. For larger layouts it helps to stake out your perimeter with mason before installing. The 14 gauge wire is copper clad steel core not solid copper.

I had a fence installed about 8 years ago and it finally had enough breaks in it for me to replace the whole 1000 feet. I bought this roll of wire in 14 gauge as the wire I currently had was 20 gauge. Well worth the price and easy to tie into my system... Dog is not happy now but I am!!

This is the Gauge to use
We have 35 acres that we have fenced and then applied in-ground wire to the field fence. We went with the original gauge it is a smaller wire. Every other week we had an alarm and had to find where the rabbits or squirrels chewed it in half. Got pretty tired of that game so we bought all new 14G wire. This was the right price, the coating is stout and the wire is good and heavy. It has been up for a month and there are not breaks in the wire. Wish we had put this up in the first place.

It works great for us
We have used the inground fence with excellent success. The first time we buried the wire, but this time, when we moved, we used the suggestions for laying it above ground and it was much easier and still works extremely well for our dogs. The heavy duty wire especially seems to be working great in above ground application.

Highly recommend invisible fence
We have enclosed 10 fenced acres with underground wire fencing (we buried the wire across the front of our home, but side and back, we just laid the wire on top of the ground). We have four (4) dogs and it works amazingly. Without question, would recommend to anyone with dogs that are constantly leaving your property boundaries. You will not regret your purchase.

Best value I can find for this wire
I have been buying dog containment products from Radio Fence for 10 years. I have never been disappointed. Fast shipping and the prices are lower than any competitor. With proper installation and dog training, my petsafe underground fence has been virtually flawless. I would never consider owning dogs without this system.

14 gauge heavy duty wire
This looks like a really great product. The wire is really thick and solid. The coating is thick and also tough. However I would recommend better packaging before shipping. 2 out of 3 of my 1000ft rolls had been damaged during shipping which made unrolling the wire an unnecessary challenge.

Good Product , poor shipping
Good product. The extra $10 for 18ga is good money spent at this price. Shipping sucked: heavy-mass items are just put in a cardboard box. Plastic spools broken 4 out of 4. Now difficult to use.

Radio Fence Awesome
I found Radio Fence personnel to be awesome and helpful! This wire is definitely better insulated than the wire that comes with all the fence kits. It weathered Hurricane Irma with no issues. You do have to be extra careful with connections, they are tougher to get just right than the yellow wire was.

Great Heavy Wire
The wire is strong and hopefully will hold up in our Colorado snow. Just put a short piece of rebar in the center hole and the wire layed nicely by using the plastic wire holder as a spool.

My shipment
Thanks for the great service! Used a mantis tiller with the edger attachment. Took about three hours to do the job. Also used landscaping staples to hold it in place. Should last a lot longer than that 20 gauge I used before.
