Factory Grade Wire

This is the wire included in all self-install kits. Regardless of gauge, this wire is of medium quality, lighter weight and keeps shipping and initial costs down. This wire will work but does not hold up to the elements as well as a professional grade wire. The vinyl wire coating is prone to cracks and over time exposes the copper leaving the wire susceptible to damage. This can cause issues that impact the functionality of your dog fence system. Since finding, digging up, and repairing wire breaks can be a tedious job at best, many people prefer to upgrade to a pro-grade wire from the start.

heavy-duty-wire.jpgHeavy Duty Grade Wire

The initial cost of heavy duty grade wire is a bit more than manufacturer grade wire. However, there are many benefits to choosing heavy duty wire for your dog fence. Heavy Duty grade dog fence wire holds up better to freezing conditions, sunlight exposure, contraction and expansion of the ground, water exposure and general wear and tear. The long term savings in time and replacement if you are planning on staying in your home for at least a year or more, makes the heavier duty wire a much better investment.

Probably saved our dogs life
We love our Petsafe fence! I wish we had put it up sooner, before our little dog got hit by a car. I have no doubt he would head right back into the road if we didn't have our fence up now. Everyone should have one if you don't have a fenced in yard for your dog otherwise.

BEST PRICE
I looked all over and found this to be the place with the best price. The product is very good but the instructions could be better written. Ordering on line was great and had no problems at all. Will recomend them to everyone looking for pet supplys.

Still new system
I am satisfied so far. The system works as advertised. I'm going by the owner's manual suggestions for the training. I have a hyperactive small dog that is learning quickly.

Frustrated
I highly recommend before you go to the trouble burying wire, test the fence transmitter device first. Be sure that it works properly! It took me 2 days to bury the wire. When the it came time to power the fence transmitter on, the power light lit and the loop alarm sounded. I followed the troubleshooting instructions and used an Ohm meter to test the loop. The loop is fine. The problem is in the fence transmitter. Out of box failure! Great. Now I get to play the return game to get the transmitter fixed or replaced. Wonder if Customer Service will authorize two day delivery to send and return the transmitter at their expense.

Yes, but...
It looks like a great product...and we ordered it in order to get a smaller collar for our little 12-pounder to wear....BUT when we began to read how to install it, we realized that with underground utilities coming into our house plus our sprinkler system run by electrical wires we could not get far enough away from the underground electrical wires that we had so that this product would run properly...Pet Safe Technician confirmed that. Wish we had known from reading reviews! Wasted our time and our money to return the product. We like our Pet Safe wireless OK, so just reordered a new collar for that.

Keeps Dogs In Yard
We have a large yard with a 6 foot wrought iron fence and a dog who squeezes through the fence pickets. We bought 4' plastic fencing and attached it to the wrought iron fence and still the dog learned how to jump the 4' fence and squeeze through. We got the in-ground fence and instead of burying the wire we attached it to the top and bottom of the iron fence to form the loop (per included instructions for optional fencing installation). Works great! Our dog doesn't go near the fence anymore and we feel relieved in knowing our little guy is safe and sound in his own yard.

Freedom!!!
"Our 6 month old Schnoodle is a very active, athletic little dog. We started her training before the fence was totally installed and activated by placing the flags on the boundary and yelling ""FLAG"" everytime she went close to them on leash. The day the wire was laid and active, we continued yelling ""FLAG"" when she was in beeping distance of the fence and allowed her to get zapped twice on leash. Next day, we let her off leash and watched her, warned FLAG if she approached her boundary on a run, and she'd pull up before hitting the line. She's only breached her fence once since then and that was to chase an intruding dog OUT of HER YARD. Her sense of territory has been firmly established. She hasn't challenged it since, she'll even sit just inside her safe zone and watch the kids play next door although she'd dearly like to join them. It's great to see her have complete freedom to run and play inside her 3 acre yard. She comes and goes as she pleases. We don't have to worry about her fatal attraction to cars on the road anymore. We think it's improved her physical and emotional health and her behaviour indoors is less rambunctions and destructive - you know puppies!!! For those who say electric fences are cruel: Pffft. The few corrections she's received on the fence while learning are far kinder than a life time of having her tied up or constantly yelling at her or keeping her stuck indoors on a beautiful day. I was disappointed with the battery life in the small dog collar though (6 weeks!), and they are expensive to boot. The larger collar would have been a bit too much for a 14 lb. dog. So, Pet-Safe, if you can redesign the collar to take a common size battery and still keep the size of the collar down, it would make this system perfect for smaller pets."

It Works !!
"Using a lawn edger made it easy to install the underground wire and the rest was a snap. We have a toy poodle that weighs between 7 & 8 pounds and only have the collar on level 3, however I may have to turn it up to level 4 because the squirrels tease the dog and she will go through the fence chasing them sometimes. Otherwise it works great, no problems at all."

Highly Recommended!!
Our dogs safety is our #1 priority and we love this invisible fence for small dogs. We have 3 dogs (8 - 16 lbs) and they like to crawl under the gaps in our fence. It only took one day for them to adjust to the Small Dog System. We keep the collars set at 3 (blinks) and it works just fine for us. It's now been 3 months and we have not had to change the batteries (collars are only worn outside). Due to the slope of our lot, we buried half of the wire and the other half we attached to our fence with tie straps. Both ways work just fine. It's a wonderful system, very easy to install and very highly recommended!!

Safe/Happy Dog
Have no complaints about this product.Took a short time to train our dog. Now we can relax and watch the dogs play without having to worry about their safety. We and they enjoy our yard. Burying the cable was a bit tedious, but the result is well worth it.

Sparky is here to stay!!! : )
We installed a radio fence with our beloved lab 15 years ago. Now we have a spit-fire little dachsund name Sparky. Trained in the first 3 hours knew broundries. Besides low maintance and upkeep. We are proud that our dogs don't roam the neighborhood and not hit by cars on the busy main road. We also are able to enjoy the woods with out installing a unsightly fence.
