The PetSafe Stubborn Dog Collar has four levels of correction plus vibration in the warning area for an added deterrent. Even dogs that resist training respond well to this system. With 4 higher-intensity settings, these harmless electrical stimulations work so effectively that most dogs will learn to stop in their tracks at the sounds of the early warning tone before any stimulation. Plus, its vibration option is ideal for hearing-impaired or senior dogs!

Some dogs were born to test limits. But the Stubborn Dog In-Ground Fence system sets firm boundaries that you’ll quickly train them to understand. Here’s how it works. You’ll set the boundary by burying wires around the perimeter of your yard. Your dog wears a collar that picks up the signal from the transmitter. As your dog nears the boundary wires, a beep alerts your dog, giving them a chance to stop without any correction. For those that continue, a safe static correction reminds them to stay in the area you’ve established. Simply adjust the correction level if your dog continues to test the boundaries. After about 2 weeks of training, even the most stubborn dogs can start enjoying their new yard freedom! And for hearing-impaired or senior dogs who simply can’t detect the beep, there’s a special vibration mode. Your furry friends will certainly thank you for the extra help in keeping them safe!

Factory Grade Wire

This is the wire included in all self-install kits. Regardless of gauge, this wire is of medium quality, lighter weight and keeps shipping and initial costs down. This wire will work but does not hold up to the elements as well as a professional grade wire. The vinyl wire coating is prone to cracks and over time exposes the copper leaving the wire susceptible to damage. This can cause issues that impact the functionality of your dog fence system. Since finding, digging up, and repairing wire breaks can be a tedious job at best, many people prefer to upgrade to a pro-grade wire from the start.

heavy-duty-wire.jpgHeavy Duty Grade Wire

The initial cost of heavy duty grade wire is a bit more than manufacturer grade wire. However, there are many benefits to choosing heavy duty wire for your dog fence. Heavy Duty grade dog fence wire holds up better to freezing conditions, sunlight exposure, contraction and expansion of the ground, water exposure and general wear and tear. The long term savings in time and replacement if you are planning on staying in your home for at least a year or more, makes the heavier duty wire a much better investment.

Very good
although mounting the control unit in a place above freezing caused some problems for me as far as installation, the unit works as advertised.

It worked, no more digging out
We have a pit bull rescue, could not keep him contained to the point we were going to have to take him back to the pound. Last ditch effort we decided to invest in the underground fence. It worked!!!!! Once we figured out the layout and how to create the neutral zones, the installation of the fence was fairly easy. Best part, our dog actually responds to just the beeping, we haven't had to even use the shock level of our collar. We highly recommend this fence and we are very happy that we tried this option before giving up.

Pretty Good
I am hopeful about the quality of the Pet Safe Stubborn Dog fence because of the 5 settings. There is a glich that no one can help however; we can't find anything that will tempt Shadow (75 lb lab/rotweiller) enough to know that the system works. I've walked my female dog on the other side of the fence and we have an outside cat who also tempts him some. He did chase a deer outside of the fence while we were watching him and the setting was only on two however. We changed the setting to three and the only thing that will tempt him is another deer or something similar. He doesn't care about the cat. We live in the country and we get a lot of coyotes around here; the system will truly be tested. He is very scared of the vibration itself so chances are very good this will work for the long haul. I do wonder about how long the system will last, since these fences are so new on the market. I'm extremely grateful when I see my dog all muddy and soken wet from zipping around the yard in the rain. Also, when I check his neck for spots; it never fails, he burps every time (because I have to rub his neck for this). It's just funny.

Great product
I purchased this fence to keep my two German Shepherds in the yard and I absolutely love it. It was easy to install and very effective. I didn't have a lot of time to train so I pretty much put the fence up and the collars on the dogs and put them outside. I have had the fence for about 10 months and my dogs have not jumped the fence since I installed it. Can't say anything bad about this product.

love this fence
We have a German Short-haired pointer who lives to hunt and chase birds. He runs like a race horse, and it is funny to watch him run from one end of the yard, about 1/2 acre, to the other at full throttle and come to a screeching halt. The other thing I like is that is takes a basic 9volt, easy to get, battery. Those specialty, expensive, hard to find batteries are a pain.

Great Product
Once my dog had a taste of life outside our fence, there was no stopping him from digging a new hole - almost every day. After installing the wire at the base of the fence (couple of hours total,) my problem was solved. Now, Wilbur doesn't even try to go by the fence - even when he is not wearing his collar.

Functions well
I recently bought I home that had an existing older RadioFence; however the transmitter was blown. I replaced the transmitter with a new one which works great; the only confusing thing was that the older system had a 3rd wire for a ground which the new transmitter didn't seem to accommodate. It was a bit confusing but I just left the ground wire out and it appears to work fine. We have a St. Bernard and have the system on the lowest setting and it keeps her around! There is one draw back; I have the width of the boundary warning turned up as high as it will go but there is little to know warning before the shock. I assume that is because my system incorporates about 4 acres.

Great Fence!
My neighbor and I have 8 acres (4 each) and we have three extra large dogs between us. We got a "wild hare" to install underground fencing on ALL 8 ACRES! We have 90% woods, with several streams and wetlands. The system works just like it said, we were innovative when going through the wet areas and everything has worked like a charm. All three dogs are trained and doing well with this system.

The best thing we ever bought 4 our dog!
This is the one product (we've used others) that really works for our dog. We replaced an older model collar, and after one trip into the "vibration only" zone, our dog stays back closer to the house, right where we want him. This is a great product, great service!

Undergrounf Fence A success
I used the two wire layout as a loop wasn't possible. It installed easily with just a shovel turning up the ground and laying the wire in the cut. Following the directions the fence worked the first time.
