Maximum yard, maximum boundary. YardMax Rechargeable In-Ground Fence offers the best, most reliable pet containment system and maximizes the amount of yard space for your pet to play freely.
PetSafe's most advanced in-ground fence system keeps your pet in your yard with a transmitter, rechargeable collar and wire buried around the perimeter. When your pet nears the boundary, the collar will give a warning beep, followed by a static correction to remind your pet to stay within the boundaries. Your pet will be enjoying greater yard freedom in no time!
How YardMax Works:
The YardMax Fence Transmitter sends a radio signal through a buried wire that marks the boundaries you wish to set for your dog. Your dog wears a Receiver Collar that detects the signal at the boundary. The Receiver Collar has 5 levels of adjustable correction plus tone only so you can set it to match your dog's training needs.
The YardMax Has Two Modes - YardMax or Traditional
In YardMax Mode, the Receiver Collar gives a warning tone when your dog crosses the boundary wire. If your dog continues beyond the boundary, the Receiver Collar gives him a correction to persuade your dog to return to the Pet Area. Even if your dog continues beyond the correction zone, the Receiver Collar continues the correction giving your dog the perception of an endless boundary. The YardMax mode is ideal for small yards because it allows your do to use up to 30% more of the Pet Area.
In Traditional Mode, the Receiver Collar gives a warning tone when your dog approaches the boundary. If your dog continues, he will then get the static correction. While it is harmless, the correction will persuade your dog to stay in the containment area you have established for him.
The PetSafe YardMax Rechargeable Inground Fence has been proven safe, confortable and effective for dogs over 5 pounds.

Factory Grade Wire
This is the wire included in all self-install kits. Regardless of gauge, this wire is of medium quality, lighter weight and keeps shipping and initial costs down. This wire will work but does not hold up to the elements as well as a professional grade wire. The vinyl wire coating is prone to cracks and over time exposes the copper leaving the wire susceptible to damage. This can cause issues that impact the functionality of your dog fence system. Since finding, digging up, and repairing wire breaks can be a tedious job at best, many people prefer to upgrade to a pro-grade wire from the start.
Heavy Duty Grade Wire
The initial cost of heavy duty grade wire is a bit more than manufacturer grade wire. However, there are many benefits to choosing heavy duty wire for your dog fence. Heavy Duty grade dog fence wire holds up better to freezing conditions, sunlight exposure, contraction and expansion of the ground, water exposure and general wear and tear. The long term savings in time and replacement if you are planning on staying in your home for at least a year or more, makes the heavier duty wire a much better investment.

I installed this fence about 6 weeks ago. Everything was very well made. We did the initial charge on the collar and it hasn't needed a charge yet and fits really well. When I ordered, I did upgrade the wire to underground 14 gauge wire so I did not use any of the stock wire it came with. So far everything has worked flawlessly.

This is my third invisible fence. The first two were Innotek with rechargeable collars. The system worked fine but the collars were short lived and expensive. I decided to try this PetSafe unit with the rechargeable collar. So far so good. The system worked just like the previous systems and the collar is holding a charge above my expectations. The Innotek collars were easier to recharge by leaving them on the transmitter box or with the wall plug hanger. The PetSafe collar requires you to manually plug them in with the supplied charger and cable. Not a big deal really. I did not set the unit up for Yard Max yet. The controls are easy to use on the transmitter but setting the stimulation level on the collar is a pain. You need to wait for the flashing lights on the collar and then press the button on the collar to set the level. I am sure my timing is off but it takes me several tries to change the stim level. A nice feature is the contact tone that lets you know if the collar is making contact with your dog when you turn the collar on and put it on within 30 seconds. The higher end Innotek did the same thing but you had to take the collar off of the charger and put it on the dog to do this. The PetSafe system allows you to turn the collar off and back on to use this feature. We'll see how long the collar lasts. I love the quick release on the collar. My first Innotek collar had this and it is great for taking the it off as soon as your dog enters the house or car. I am pleased with this system so far.

I would definitely recommend the yardmax fence as a good investment if your looking to purchase an invisible fence. We saved a lot of money by not going with Invisible Fence installation.
